Last year, during November and December 2024, my workplace had the privilege of hosting a group of visitors from BIG Zhanjiang, China. They came to Malaysia for an exciting mission: to learn and transfer technology as they prepared to establish a new production plant modeled after ours. It was a fantastic and enriching experience for everyone involved!
The team from BIG Zhanjiang was eager to gain insights into our operations, particularly in setting up a state-of-the-art laboratory. As part of the Quality Control (QC) team, I had the responsibility of guiding them through the processes and standards required to ensure their laboratory met top-notch quality and efficiency. From explaining the methods for analysis to detailing the necessary chemicals and protocols for processing QC samples, every day brought new opportunities to share and learn together.
Interestingly, there were two groups of visitors:
- The first group arrived at the end of October and stayed until the middle of November.
- The second group visited during December 2024, spending nearly a month here as well.
Both groups showed immense dedication to learning and a genuine curiosity about how we operate. Their questions and engagement made teaching both fun and challenging, pushing us to refine our explanations and share our expertise in the best possible way.
Of course, it wasn’t all work and no play! To help them experience Malaysia beyond the laboratory, we took them out to explore our local food and culture. They absolutely loved trying Malaysian delicacies such as nasi lemak, satay, and roti canai. Witnessing their joy as they immersed themselves in our traditions was truly heartwarming.
As a token of appreciation, our friends from China brought us adorable souvenirs. One of my favorites was a cute panda keychain—a thoughtful and meaningful gesture that will always remind me of our time together.
As they return to China and begin commissioning their new production plant, I wish them the very best. I’m confident that the knowledge and experiences they gained here will help them succeed. This collaboration not only strengthened professional ties but also fostered friendships that I’m sure will last a lifetime.
To our friends at BIG Zhanjiang: Good luck with your new journey! We hope to see you again soon.
Hosting international visitors like the team from BIG Zhanjiang highlights the importance of knowledge sharing and cultural exchange. It’s not just about technology transfer; it’s about building bridges, understanding different perspectives, and growing together. Experiences like these remind us of the value of teamwork and the joy of connecting across borders.
Enjoy...!!!
